Ratio Cannabis is a premium dispensary located in Philadelphia, Ohio, where the intersection of design, science, and nature creates a distinctive customer experience. As part of the project, I developed a cohesive branding suite and designed the facade to reflect the dispensary's core identity — a celebration of the golden ratio and pentagonal symmetry.
This project was an absolute joy to undertake, as my client and I share a deep appreciation for the symbolism found in geometry and the mathematical archetypes present in nature, art, and science. The universal language of nature—expressed through numbers, shapes, and patterns—reflects timeless principles such as wholeness, polarity, structure, balance, cycles, rhythm, and harmony. Each geometric form embodies a unique approach to problem-solving within the interconnected systems of the cosmos. Drawing on these symbolic mathematics, I infused the design of the logo and facade with a deeper meaning, creating a visual narrative that speaks to these enduring truths.
Ratio’s guiding philosophy, “empower your body and mind to experience the beauty and wonder that surround you,” serves as the foundation for its brand identity. Drawing inspiration from key attributes provided by the client—including curiosity, harmony, responsibility, empowerment, and awareness—the design aims to be paradoxical, engaging, and thought-provoking while conveying competence, efficiency, and value.
The logo design takes inspiration from pentagonal symmetry, embodying the golden ratio—a universal principle of proportion and balance. Within a regular pentagon, the diagonal-to-side ratio reflects the golden ratio, and intersecting diagonals divide each other in this same harmonious proportion. This mathematical elegance is seamlessly woven into the brand’s visual identity, aligning with Ratio’s mission to create meaningful connections between body, mind, and the world around us.
