Whole Foods Market Colorado Boulevard, Cap Hill, Pearl Street
Environmental Graphics + Interiors
I designed a comprehensive suite of environmental graphics and signage for Whole Foods Market locations in Denver and Boulder, Colorado. The designs were uniquely tailored to reflect the distinct personality and context of the local neighborhood.
The Colorado Boulevard store, located south of the city with sweeping views of the Rocky Mountains, features graphics inspired by the region’s dramatic landscape. Mountain peaks were distilled into clean geometric forms, serving as the foundation for a cohesive signage package that celebrates the store’s connection to the natural beauty of Colorado.
For the Capitol Hill location, situated in one of Denver's most eclectic and vibrant neighborhoods, the graphics took on a more playful and artistic tone. Drawing inspiration from the area’s bohemian charm, we abstracted natural elements to create organic patterns and textures for key elements such as aisle fins, aisle signs, case toppers, and headers. These designs also reflected the essence of the Whole Body department, evoking the purity and natural origins of the products sold there.
I was also the graphic designer for the Boulder Pearl Street store 2009 - 2010 and did a variety of large and small scale environmental graphics there. These functional elements were carefully designed to enhance navigation while adding to the visual storytelling and identity of the store.
These projects exemplify how thoughtful environmental graphics can enhance a retail experience by forging a meaningful connection between a store’s design and its surrounding community.
